A Good Thing

Communications breakdown – no one listens what they’re sayin’
In denial as gods are playing out their games
Total systems failure across the board the lights are flashin’
The dealers are all cashin’ in their chips it’s time to go

Back home the shadows are still silent under beds
Occasionally we wonder if it was all in our heads
Memories flicker brightly voices slightly telling lies
And they still don’t hear the cries

Living in excesses – pushing all the limits
To destroy the excuses – time will tell
If it was a good thing
If there’s more to this than meets the eye
At least that’s what I want to do while I can

Absence of reason – they will rule by confusion
So no one can come to a conclusion of their own
Destruction of innocence – it’s their way or none
Teach you to be dumb brainwash your mind it’s what they do

Government corruption devils in disguise
Well practiced in the arts of telling the prettiest of lies
Memories showing images of what they wanted me to know
I can see it clearly it is time to go

Living in excesses – pushing all the limits
To destroy the excuses – time will tell
If it was a good thing
If there’s more to this than meets the eye
At least that’s what I want to do while I can

CASTLES OUT OF SAND

CASTLES OUT OF SAND

Tempting: Another place-another time, is it really real?
In asking for the answer do you lose the way you feel
Standing by the sea-side as the sun sinks slowly down
Senses swirling-you are lost in the sight and sound
No one sees the pain behind your eyes
You build your castles out of sand
Piece by piece and by your hands
Just to watch it crumble at your feet

Thinking: Another word-another song, just to get along
In answering the question do the words all come out wrong
Standing by the way-side as the world passes slowly by
Fighting for some notion that may lead you to the “why”
No one sees the anger in your heart
You build your castles out of sand
                  Dream of conquering this land
Just to watch it crumble at your feet

Changing: Another dream-another dream, are they still the same
In standing silent do you refuse to play the tired game
Shuffling uneasy side-to-side as the time draws near
Wondering as the stars come out is the tension really fear
No one sees the person you could be
You build your castles out of sand
Piece by piece and by your hands
Do you have the strength to walk away
